On Tuesday morning, the San Diego Zoo revealed the name of its baby panda born Aug. 5.
Panda fans from around the world had submitted more than 6,300 names for the small black-and-white bundle. Then zoo officials narrowed the list to five choices and again turned over the selection process to the public.

The other top contenders were Fu Sheng, which means “blissful San Diego”; Xiao Long, or “little dragon”; Xiong Wei, or “extraordinary bear”; and Yong Xiang, or “eternally blessed.”
All the names are in Pinyin, which is the system for translating Chinese characters into the Roman alphabet.
